Valga County Vocational Training Centre’s Green School expanded to Ahtme to integrate sustainability into vocational education through practical green activities.

Since September 2025, graduates of Ahtme School have started the Kitchen Assistant programme and immediately joined Green School initiatives. The focus is on using local ingredients, preserving traditions, and developing resource-efficient cooking skills.

A key part of the activities is implemented through the project “Traditional Flavours with a Modern Twist – Preserving and Reinventing Classic Recipes,” which promotes classic recipes while exploring modern, more sustainable approaches. Learners also grow their own herbs and practise reducing food waste.
